I went into creating this video blind, having seen whiteboard animation style videos before, but having no idea how to create one myself. After consulting with my professor, we figured out a way to make it work:
I would draw each image individually in Photoshop and then chop each line up into smaller pieces. I then imported all of those parts into After Effects then play then back to back, one after another to simulate it being drawn. I then isolated a video of my hand with a marker and laid that animation over top of the picture animation.
This video took a while to produce (about a month) because of the tediousness of the animation, but I am very happy with the result.
